We need more adoption outside dnms. BTC started like that but has managed to cut its reliance on the "dark" volume. I see that as a win, wouldnt it also be for Monero?
  • Anon 251107
    agreed
i just dont see it being a thing due to actual tech limitations of monero currently

    Elaborate. Which ones?

it doesnt work for that usecase since ToS are being broken, so the admins are liable legally
the reason it works on that other market is because their currency is not officially considered "real money", which is against those companies ToS to sell for "real money" (it's a grey area)
devs would also need to be anon, to prevent getting the samourai wallet treatment
similar as how the Haveno devs dont endorse any networks, they built the software, then networks can be spun by volunteers which in their turn are the ones putting themselves in risk legally

(can't do long posts here, will be at least couple posts, also took too long to write, the captcha didn't work)

    >Elaborate. Which ones?

    - 10 blocks lock:
would have to constantly have to bother making "change", that's a big UX downside:
    https://github.com/haveno-dex/haveno/issues/203
am personally not advocating to remove it since it has a reason to be there, but it's a downside

    - speed:
0-conf is a thing but then have to make sure to always have "change"
for a market that needs to min/max trading speed
(some people in that other market already have some type of trading automation)
every seconds wasted doing the trading are seconds not being active doing other things, it has to be snappy fast, or at least as much as it can be

    - need to be able to do "trading in dust"
some trades would probably be in the piconeros (not everything has to be "for profit", yet those very inexpensive trades do happen as well, it is still active trades that matter)
but who even uses those denominations anyways:
    https://web.getmonero.org/resources/moneropedia/denominations.html
then considering an increase in monero price, the transaction fee (while has it's reason to be), is also a UX downside, since some trades would need to be below that transaction fee

just a few on top of my head but there's probably more

Well, I did not quite get anything of what you said about bazaar, currencies and ToS above, so I'm skipping that one, if you don't mind.

Churn away. As small or as big as you want. Not ideal and not ready for the masses, but from that to "it cannot work at all", there's a thin line.

Not much else to say from my end. To each their own, your mileage might vary.
  • Anon 251109
well i guess not in actual piconeros
but like, if 20k fg is $200 (approximate)
    then 100fg is $1
(a jah rune is worth $1, 20/5@ small charms are like $30, 3/20/20 small charms are $100, all of those are fungible and used as actual fungible currency regardless)
but there are trades that are like 5fg or whatever
so that would be like $0.05
currently the xmr transaction fees are around $0.01 for a single output
so i guess the math almost make sense here to still be above transaction fee
but still, with increase in monero price, that might be an issue

(still banned from the forum for 3 more days, got a 7 days ban for coming forward acknowledging having an alt account, however the actual admin been doing winks here and there, pretty wholesome, never spoke to him directly but yea, wholesome lol)

    >Well, I did not quite get anything of what you said about bazaar

dang, didnt notice your reply, my bad
i meant, for the current videogaming market
it's against those videogaming companies ToS to sell their in-game items for "real money"
the forum currency being used there is not considered actual "real money", it's been a grey area with speculations for decades that Blizzard would just shut them down, similar as "Monero will get banned" and so on
  • Anon 251109
feel free to delete any of my posts btw, if you think it might be a worry
just trying to give as much insight as i can
and idk everything about those markets either so the more i can provide the better imo

as a sidenote to clear things up real quick, and my apologizes for hijacking this thread

the whole matching numbers thing is literally just a coincidence (and a provable one at that)
it's not overconfidence in my opsec
it's overconfidence that i didnt do shit and not even being involved with any of these people in the first place lol
so glowies would literally just be wasting their time trying to look in my direction

so to anyone that been worrying about my well being regarding that whole thing
that might have been super dumb of me to play on that coincidence but no worries, we chillin, imma be okay, doggos will be okay, everyone gonna be okay so yall gotta chill about the speculations lmao

that was the whole point about "fungible community", literally because of coincidences, it can fuck over people, so yall gotta take that shit serious too
coincidences can happen to literally anyone
especially now with those AI cameras or whatever:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9h2npIn8RQ
(use a privacy respecting youtube frontend)

anyways, pretty much it, my bad walls of texts and shits, figured would clear things up

and not actually "retired" gotta get that 10% warn down to 0% anyways

as quick update, and my bad again for hijacking this thread lol

for some reason admin on the videogaming forum just nuked my Monero thread over there (last message was just a youtube monero video thing few days ago, wasnt controversial or anything, but did do some shitposting since, in an other part of the forum so that's probably why lol)

so then, figured, i guess ill just nuke the twitch account too and since cant remember which mail alias thing i used for xmrchat then also sent an account deletion request to xmrchat support

i wasnt planning to go back to monero community in the first place anyways (like, matrix channels or reddit or whatever)
but would have kept on doing contributions here and there, am just going back to actually enjoy life now lol
eat some good food, watch some wholesome animes, take care of loved ones and whatnot
as for my online presence which was already pretty close to none, well, is pretty much none now lol, true off the grid cipherpunk x)

    take care yall o/
